Bonded

One of my favorite expressions to capture in a painting is love, which is what I did in my newest piece, "Bonded," featuring a brother and sister tiger in a very special moment. These two big cats clearly trust and love each other, so I painted them with that in mind, keeping the fur texture as soft as possible.

Co-Host

“Co-Host” is a short film script based around the idea that kids’ shows, when looking back at them, can be kind of creepy. We decided to take that idea and run with it, creating a comedic horror story about the connection between an unwell man, Jack, and his puppet counterpart, Gumble.

Birth of an Angel

This digital animation portrays a certain analogy. The hand represents the creator, God, but also depicts me, creating this animation, giving life to this character.

Dodecahedron

Dodecahedron is built on a twelve-tone row (C# G C B D E A# G# A D# F# F). Its structure emerges from continuous motivic transformation involving this core material. The piece begins with twelve statements of this row, transposed (in order) to the pitches contained within it and sometimes layered over one another.

Edelweiss from The Sound of Music by Rogers/Hammerstein, Arr. by Dustin B.

My submission is an arrangement I recently made for my sibling string quartet. I first started making arrangements for string trios and then later for string quartets. When my siblings and I were younger we were a string trio and we wanted to play Edelweiss from The Sound of Music but there weren't any arrangements for two violins and cello readily available.

Sciamachy

My illustration depicts a person who has already been consumed but is attempting to escape. This is why I chose the word Sciamachy as my title, a Greek phrase that refers to “fighting your demons” or “fighting imagined enemies.”

When Life Gives You Lemons

In naming this piece, "When Life Gives You Lemons," I hope to put a spin on this common saying and further express the ways in which optimism and positivity can enter our lives.

Meditations

I mainly composed the piece just as a pretty and calm piece, to contrast some earlier works of mine in a cycle of preludes, but I found its name as something to fit its mood later.

Misty

This is a drawing of raindrops on a window looking out on a busy street. I heard a jazz tune that just felt like night rain on a busy street.

The Guardian’s Friend

The illustration itself depicts a dragon from Vietnamese culture interacting with one of the characters that I've designed named Y?n. The background itself is inspired by Vietnam's landscapes as well. This piece is one of my favorites that I've made as it combines my own culture and heritage with the fantasy genre that I love so much.

Untitled

My piece of artwork is a collection of poems I have written throughout the last year. They are unrelated to each other except for their titles, which are all single words with the dictionary definitions for them printed under the title.

Into the Storm

With a card board box, a white blanket, pillow stuffing, and coconut flour he was able to create the image before you. By blowing the flour onto the subject while taking the picture he was able to capture the look of an intense blizzard, even though the whole set was about eight inches tall.

Shedding Creativity

Words are just a construct: little letters pieced together, sounds slurred together, methods to get across an idea. What makes humans humans? If they aren’t words, if they aren’t the technologies, aren’t the buildings, what are they?

Textbook

For my piece of art, I designed a dress made out of retired textbooks from my AP Environmental Science class. At the start of the school year, textbooks filled the back of my Environmental Science class, waiting to be sent to the landfill - in participating in a class about pollution and climate change, the irony was not lost on me.

Grace by C. Graham

Calum Graham's "Grace" sounds laidback and relaxing, yet it has a strong connection to the concept of time - the way it moves continuously, like a river bending to its surroundings but also sculpting its environment.
