Into the Storm

Mason R.

  • Mason R. is a student in the Cinematic Arts program at Novato High's Marin School of the Arts. In his free time, he experiments in photography, inspired by his parents careers. After exploring countless forms of photography he discovered one he never expected to love, toy photography. Toy photography takes small, detailed action figures and places them in miniature settings, and with the right angle, camera, and vision, can look life like. Already loving collecting pop culture figurines from classics like Star Wars or popular video games like Halo, he was able to immediately start exploring this art medium. After he took his first photo, he fell in love. Living in the suburbs of Marin, this image was surprisingly taken in his own backyard. With a card board box, a white blanket, pillow stuffing, and coconut flour he was able to create the image before you. By blowing the flour onto the subject while taking the picture he was able to capture the look of an intense blizzard, even though the whole set was about eight inches tall.

  • Creativity is the way people can represent themselves and their passions in ways unique to each individual. Whether film, photography, writing, visual art, and more, everyone sees the world in their own creative way, allowing for the millions of forms of creativity expressed today.
