I wanted it to feel like the cup was consuming the viewer.

I made this sketch over the course of a few days, and it represents something I've been feeling a lot over the past year which is why I decided to draw it.

I titled this work “Crystallization.” To create it, I started with a pencil sketch to create a basic layout, then used Micron 005, 003, 05, and 03 size fine liners to do the shading.

This ink drawing is inspired by a Chinese idiom “Luo Ye Gui Gen” (falling leaves return to their roots), which is parallel to the concept that humans have to face the consequences of relentless demand for the earth’s resources.

The inspiration for this piece was the feeling of frustration when doing homework.
