• Artist Statement

  For my scenic piece titled "Little Saigon," I was tasked with illustrating a place I love. I chose to draw a super market in my city's Little Saigon because I wanted to capture the beauty and charm of such an ordinary scene. Little Saigon holds a very special place in my life because it helps me regularly connect with my culture as a Vietnamese American. For this piece I chose chalk pastels because of the soft texture you can create and also how easy it is to block in big colors. This was my first full piece using chalk pastels.

  By exploring and expressing my creativity through visual art, I am able to not only express myself, but also share my unique perspective and allow others to see the world through my eyes.
