Pain of Pressure
I created this dress to represent how overwhelming homework can get, to the point where it could feel like I was drowning. I made it by gluing my old homework together with hot glue into the shape of a dress, painting a heart onto it, then spilling down watered-down acrylic paint to mimic blood.
Barren Step
I began with a sketch. I used charcoal pencils on toned paper, using a photo I took as a reference.
The Weight of a Nation
Political tension in our country has created a pervasive sense of anxiety for many individuals, as the divide between ideologies grows wider and more hostile.
Among the Fish
This piece was created with the goal of experimenting and learning more about drawing facial structure and painting in my own style using gouache.
Origin Story
This piece highlights the courage it takes to step beyond the familiar and comfortable in pursuit of a better life.
Shark Food
I wanted to create a sort of character poster art for my characters from a story I made about a dystopian world.
Lion Puzzle
This art was started with a puzzle board where I decided to do a lion in graphite, I then broke up the puzzle and put in on a black background and thought it would be a good idea to do a lion with a lamb in white color pencil behind it.
On Top of the World
This colored pencil sketch ”On Top of the World” displays a colorful snapshot of my twin and I on top of a slide at our childhood playground.
Point Reyes National Seashore
My painting is a memoir of the beautiful memories I shared with my family and grandparents the day I visited Point Reyes National Seashore.
Alone at Night
I wanted to show a disconnect between a character and an environment, which makes the viewer maybe not register it at first, but looking deeper they might think ‘huh, that’s weird’.
Cerulean Rat
First I made a sketch of what I imagined it would look like, then I stylized it to look a bit more blocky because I thought that it would look cool.
Safe Haven
In ”Safe Haven,” I portray the resilience and vulnerability of a child refugee.
