Nozomi

Robin Nozomi F.

Linoleum and Ink

  • This comic panel-esque print portrays the complexity inherent in a mother-child dyad. Reflecting on my relationship with my mother, I designed a series of linoleum stamps titled “Nozomi.” I’m fascinated by fish, whose fluid and flowing nature resonates with my journey. I believe this aspect of these aquatic creatures makes them a great subject for storytelling. This artwork is an emotional milestone for me. I found creating it gave me the space to reflect on my own experience growing up as a third-culture kid and finding myself clashing with my first-generation immigrant mother over cultural differences.

  • creativity means freedom. As an artist who appreciates the dimension planes of art, the space to experiment is important to me.
