Digital Poster: Illustration and Collage

  • Designed for an art show at my school. This mixed-medium piece–with combined elements of digital collage and illustration–captures the irrationality and complexity of human nature. The baseball game serves to represent a repetitive action (pitching and hitting), alluding towards a continual cycle of self-induced pain and misery. The pitcher and the hitter are the same person, with the ”baseball” being their head. The signs reflect two contradictory parts of the self conversing: one pushing for change, the other resisting. This piece began with an intuitive process of collecting different images and elements that resonated with me, and from there, the poster took a life of its own. As I navigated through the different items, the narrative emerged organically, growing into a reflection of my own habits and inviting introspection towards the question of to what extent I am the dealer of my own suffering.

  • Creativity is innate to who I am-it’s a hobby, philosophy, passion, and my purpose. It encompasses my entire identity, and nurturing my fullest creative potential is central to my future pursuits. I hope to use design to bring transformative societal change.
