Safe Haven

Oil Paint

  • In ”Safe Haven,” I portray the resilience and vulnerability of a child refugee. The child’s expression, a mixture of wariness and hope, reflects an inner strength that persists despite hardship. The protective embrace surrounding them symbolizes the fleeting sense of security they cling to in uncertain times. Using oil paint, I built up layers to create depth in the skin tones and texture in the clothing, capturing the contrast between the softness of the child’s face and the ruggedness of their surroundings. Each brushstroke aims to tell a story of survival, connection, and quiet resilience amidst displacement.

  • To me, creativity is transforming emotions and ideas into something tangible that connects with others. It’s about pushing boundaries to express truths and explore new perspectives. More than beauty, creativity bridges the artist and viewer, offering unique insights and a shared experience beyond words.
