In and Out: A Garbage Story
In this film, I have examined the destinations of our waste—specifically, what happens to the contents of our green, blue, and grey garbage bins. By enhancing our awareness of the journey our garbage takes, we, as individuals, can improve recycling practices and reduce the negative impacts on our environment.
What Airports Mean to Me
The airport is a place of great importance for me because it is where my dreams started. The airport has brought me to different parts of the world, in the past eight years of my immigration journey. All footage of the airport comes from me.
Sophia's Prom
Utilizing 2D animation on Clip Studio Paint, I depict the experience of a young girl experiencing prom. Animated to the song "Prom Dress" by Mxmtoon; I relate to this animated piece heavily, as I too have experienced times of loneliness and social hardship in high school as well.
Konfirmationsmässa
A moment captured during a Swedish confirmation ceremony. Over the summer I attended a confirmation, an event i had never experienced before. I was tasked with taking pictures documenting the ceremony. Through out the ceremony i walked around finding different angle. I ended up behind this boy doing the confirmation. He had the pamphlet propped up in his lap. I quickly snapped the shot before he moved, capturing a moment showing what the ceremony was.
Devon the Clown
The film dramas I really enjoy watching are comedies or horror movies. So when I got an assignment in class to write a story while picking random genres, and a random tone, character and location.
Dave's Hot Shitten
We wanted to make something funny but something we haven't seen before. This piece was an exploration of comedy and our heads
The Most Important Meal of the Day
TW: depictions of grooming and eating disorders Adolescence is like breakfast in that the first meal and the first major benchmark for maturity heavily influence what remains of the day or that child’s life.
The Pine Tree
I’ve always had a strong respect for nature. Living in Marin, I often take hikes to connect with nature and always find it to be a rewarding experience. What if I wrote about the opposite perspective? About a man so invested in his work that he’s found himself completely disconnected with nature?
Transgender
To me, poetry is a medium that’s defined by authentic written self expression, not by meter or rhyme. For example, Virginia Woolf's "The Waves" is poetry because of its sheer, brilliant authenticity, not merely because of the structure. This two-part poem may not be my most technically crafted, but it's my most raw poem The tone shifts throughout, but the ending is accepting, accepting that I'll find my way and myself, even if I'm not there yet.
Flight
Since entering high school, I’ve been met with constant reminders of how quickly my childhood years are going by. Around the time that I first wrote this song, my brother was moving away for college, thoughts of moving away from friends, family, and loved ones were constantly occupying my mind.
Fragmented Path: Roots
This is the second piece in a larger project, and represents a reflection on the events portrayed by the first piece. The protagonist is lost in their thoughts, entranced by something that is entirely new to them. This contemplative quality is conveyed through swirling and surreal synth arpeggios and drifting and repetitive guitar motifs.
The Musician Doesn't Get the Guy
It is a song about having an obsessive crush as someone who isn't very good at social interaction, and relies more on music to talk about their feelings
Overcoming Addiction
This piece, dedicated to my friend who has recently overcome alcoholism, depicts the nasty stages of addiction. The piece opens with a happy sounding theme, however this is the euphoric illusion of happiness triggered by alcohol.
The Land Before the Main Street
Jazz piano improvisation with flute, bass, and percussion.
Never Meant To Be
This song is about unrequited love, in which the relationship was one-sided from the perspective of the song's narrator. The lyrics express feelings of regret and disappointment. The introduction of the song features the singer repeatedly attempting to call their former loved one, hoping for reconciliation and a desperate sense of closure.
as long as you exist
as long as you exist' is a song reflecting on communication and human connection (among others). I aimed to make the listening experience experiential and visceral. Hopefully it speaks for itself.
Metal Music
This song began as just the opening line, and I wasn't entirely sure where it would go. I completed it as a vague love song written to a robot, but upon returning to it a bit later, I changed most of the lyrics to relate to transhumanism and the garden of eden, two topics I find fascinating.
Swallowed Fear
This was an original song was made as a band. It started with a drum beat, then guitar was added. The bass followed the guitar and lyrics were made. As a group we brought it to our friend who sang it with us live!
