As a Japanese American, I grew up in an intense environment. My worth as a person was defined by the grades I got in school and the work I put into classes. To be successful, was to be my parents "best version of myself". But this version was so far from what I wanted and truly am. I found composing to be an outlet of my frustration where I can independently develop my own sense of self. As my parents only funded strict and narrow forms of musical talent, which was strict and lifeless in my eyes, I had experience in classical music. But, to create my own pieces would be unbelievable in my parents mind. This is my rebirth, this is how I break out of what I should be, and fully become who I want to be.

Creativity is an outlet to present individuality from person to person. Someones idea of creativity might mean something entirely different to another artist. That's just how creativity goes.
