Some of my artwork reflects my own personal experiences and others are inspired by instances that have occurred. I find it easiest to write when it is authentic because I know exactly how I want to describe it due to it already happening to me.

My poetry is often based on my experiences in life and issues that I'm passionate about changing in the world, such as gender inequality and body image issues. Poetry allows me to express my feelings and opinions in a creative way that's unlike anything else.

Growing up, my family often told me stories of their childhood. They would tell stories of struggle against the policies at the time, having to give up all their possessions.

A short story in which Jade encounters Untangled, a being traditionally known by her folk. While she should be terrified of this entity, Untangled is the one who leaves horrified.

This piece is about a young boy who escapes an abusive household, and his reflection on his prior experiences in life. I had written this piece over the summer, and decided to come back to it. I wondered what it would be like for someone to leave everything behind.

My Grandfather's name was William Smith. This piece is written about and for him. He showed me what it was like to be brave and strong with stories of war and love.

The dance I’m performing is called "Tiruppavai" which is a poem by Saint Andal in praise of the Hindu God Lord Krishna.

Artist Statement: Most of the best stories I’ve written have been about criminals or religion.
