Growing up, my family often told me stories of their childhood. They would tell stories of struggle against the policies at the time, having to give up all their possessions. To this day, my grandparents have no photos of their childhood, heirlooms, or valuables that hold memories. All those things remain buried in their old house's yard. There continues to be a hole in my family's history and Chinese history because of the mass destruction and burial of possessions.
