Do you remember?

Coleen S.

  • My Grandfather's name was William Smith. This piece is written about and for him. He showed me what it was like to be brave and strong with stories of war and love. When he passed a wave of gray settled upon the life of my family and me. It became difficult to do even mundane things without being bombarded with memories of him and his actions. I loved him more than I can express in words but I tried to show just how much in this piece. I wanted to explain my fear and worry for him by sharing the scary parts of his sickness. It gave me some closure but opened many wounds. I hope I will never forget him and the impact he has had on my life

  • When I write I am allowed a release of the buildup
