Self-Sabotage

Olivia N.

  • I usually write to help center myself, and this time was no different. The pieces express my frustrations, mainly about my own thought process and the way I think about things. There is a constant struggle with letting myself feel what I do and trying to stomp out the negativity with empathy and perspective (ie feeling what I want vs feeling what's right). Each piece explores the irritation by villainizing something insignificant in my life and essentially creating something out of nothing.

  • Art creates little bookmarks in my head that walk me down my thought process when I create and (re)read my work. It allows me to make sense of myself and others, and perceive the world as I want to within the limits of my own mind.
