It was an art project for my class where we had to draw our hand doing a certain gesture.

To start off this cat is not just any ordinary cat if you didn’t already notice the wings, it's an alebrije which in latin culture is essentially a mythical spirit guide. This artwork was one that I have never done before in my life.

Since I was a sophomore, I have always enjoyed ceramics. I really got into sculpting heads and enjoy showing different emotions in faces.

I took what I felt and shoved it into an iPad.

My artwork has helped me to relax and reflect and to find the tranquil, noiseless moments.

When making this piece, a theme that I focused on was revenge. I specifically worked around the consequences of revenge as it can be very destructive and harmful.

Turning to art, I placed all of my emotions on the paper to create what I hope shows how I feel as a teenager in 2021. The amalgamation of doodles and color used show the chaos that is present in growing up today, speaking to the constant movement of today’s world.

The hold that wealth has on our capitalistic society is what influenced this piece. I wanted to capture how brainwashed we are by materialistic things, we are robots with one goal: never-ending wealth.

This artwork represents a person being in the middle of tearing apart the façade that she puts up every day, revealing a blank canvas that awaits her next face painting the very next day.
