Facing the struggles of junior year and coming out of two years of COVID-induced online school, I felt overwhelmed. Turning to art, I placed all of my emotions on the paper to create what I hope shows how I feel as a teenager in 2021. The amalgamation of doodles and color used show the chaos that is present in growing up today, speaking to the constant movement of today’s world. I went through a rough patch this year and am coming out of it scratched and bruised, but still standing.

Creativity is how I can cope with being a high school student in our present, with the pressures of college and school, peer pressure, social challenges, and more. By painting and creating art, I can shove my emotions into a display of art that will hopefully connect with others.
