Black and White

This piece of art was made to convey a moment about how to be confident and how to express yourself through photography.I decided to use the background of a living room for this photo since extraordinary objects don't always need to be photographed in unique settings. I use vibrance, exposure, color balance, and blur tools to produce this artwork after editing the photo to portray more emotions in black and white.

Hidden Life

I created this picture in San Francisco with a cell phone while I was there with my family. While we were walking, I saw this garden, and I took a picture of it because my thought of San Francisco was that there are not many plants there. But the part of it where we walked was full of them, and I wanted to record this. I edited this picture in Photoshop. I made it lighter, because when I took it, it was already dark, so the picture was also dark. I also made it black and white because the colors just didn’t fit it well enough.

911 Memorial

I took this photo at the 911 memorial in New York. While I was there it really shows how 911 still affects the world to this day, people were crying over possible loved ones or friends that were lost. This photo means a lot to me for that reason. While taking this photo I really tried to get a balance and reflection in the water.

Sitting in the Sun

I took this photo in the spur of the moment, capturing the special relationship between my sister and our next doors neighbors cat. The cat had snuck into our house and enjoys our company and our leftovers from dinner. I saw the shadows and immediately thought of the assignment from my photography class. My teacher had made us keep our eyes out for shadows, textures and reflections and my eyes had been trained to spot these in my everyday life.

An End to a Memory

This photo was taken at the San Francisco Marina, and the night that I took the photo I’d been helping my dad work on a boat with some of his friends, I was exhausted, and just hanging out with my sister because she’d just met us there. When we were walking back to the car, I saw how pretty the layout could be if I just took a photo, so I did. I initially took this photo because I wanted to capture how pretty the sunset reflecting off of the water is, and then with all of the boats, it creates a sort of symmetry to it as well. I love how it came out, It has some texture and a place for your eyes to follow in a way too. I also like how there’s not much going on in the photo, but there’s a lot to look at. Not only do I love this photo, but it’s also a reminder of all the great and fun times I’ve had at the marina, and it makes me want to go there even more. Something that inspires me as an artist is reflections and water. It’s such a cool thing to capture, and there are so many things you can do with it too. With water, you can change the texture, have reflections, change the color, and so many more things. Reflections have the same type of thing, where you can distort, and find new perspectives for things.

Generations

Over school break, I went to Israel to visit my family in the midst of the current conflict. My entire mothers side of the family was there and it was my little cousins (Left) birthday. We went to the beach and tried to escape the chaos so I decided to bring my camera to photograph a break inside of my break.

A Rippling Sunset

I took this photo in a very dark time during 2020 , when I began taking daily walks to the beautiful beaches of California. I enjoyed allowing the tranquil waves to put my mind at ease and the warm sand to raise my spirits. Now I look back and understand how far I have come. I present to you, A Ripping Wave taken on a sunset walk. This photo embodies the beauty and calming nature of the world, when I gaze upon it the photo allows me to take a breath and allow my fast paced life to slow down. Finally, for the editing I tried to retain as much of the natural beauty of this photo as possible while also adding to parts.

Market Street

This photograph captures the foot of Market Street in San Francisco and attempts to be both an accurate representation of present day and a timeless memento that calls to mind the long history of Market Street. I took this photo in early 2023 and developed it in the darkroom in the spring.

Irony?

Capturing the essence of a rainy night is an art form that extends beyond mere visuals; it delves into the realms of irony and symbolism. The umbrella, an emblem of protection, stands against the vulnerability of a fire hydrant, a guardian of safety. This mirrors life's elements where security and risk coexist. The reflection of lights on the rain-slicked pavement unveils a subtle, almost cinematic drama. This underscores the irony of seeking clarity in life's uncertainties. The composition unfolds a narrative of contradictions: the sheltering umbrella against the water the fire hydrant produces.

The Mist Trail: A Familiar Place in a New Way

This photo is one of the first photos I’ve taken that has impressed me. I’ve been interested in taking photos for a while but I only started taking photos with a DSLR about a year and a half ago when I started taking a photography class. When I took this photo was one of the first times I took a lot of photos that were not for an assignment, they were simply because I love taking photos and I was in a beautiful place. This photo is of the Merced River along the Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park. I've hiked the Mist Trail countless times since I was young and I’ve always thought it was beautiful. This was my first time there in the snow. My family went to Yosemite for the weekend. I thought it would be fun to take my camera and take a few photos. I ended up shooting the whole time, I took many more photos than I thought I would. This was one of the first times I realized you could make beautiful things without a thoroughly thought-out plan. The conditions were particularly hard that day because it was so bright and I was taking shots that were mainly white from snow. I was so proud that I could properly expose my photos. I chose this photo because I’m proud of it, the experience that surrounds it has taught me a lot, and I think it shows my progress but also room for growth.
