An End to a Memory

Brooke M.D.

  • This photo was taken at the San Francisco Marina, and the night that I took the photo I’d been helping my dad work on a boat with some of his friends, I was exhausted, and just hanging out with my sister because she’d just met us there. When we were walking back to the car, I saw how pretty the layout could be if I just took a photo, so I did. I initially took this photo because I wanted to capture how pretty the sunset reflecting off of the water is, and then with all of the boats, it creates a sort of symmetry to it as well. I love how it came out, It has some texture and a place for your eyes to follow in a way too. I also like how there’s not much going on in the photo, but there’s a lot to look at. Not only do I love this photo, but it’s also a reminder of all the great and fun times I’ve had at the marina, and it makes me want to go there even more. Something that inspires me as an artist is reflections and water. It’s such a cool thing to capture, and there are so many things you can do with it too. With water, you can change the texture, have reflections, change the color, and so many more things. Reflections have the same type of thing, where you can distort, and find new perspectives for things.

  • To me, creativity means showing who you are, what goes through your mind when you think of things, what you dream about, and what other worlds/imaginations look like to you.
