Two-Cans
I loved how these Toucans were sitting on this wire when I was in Bonito, Brazil. Sadly, I did not have my camera and could only use my phone. To capture the beauty of these birds, I thought it would be better to show them in black and white to emphasize their features. I also took the photos at the wrong angle because I had limited time to capture them, so in editing, I had to adjust the angle to make them look like the wire they were sitting on was horizontal instead of at an angle. With this photo, I could capture the birds' beauty. The photo also leaves you wondering about who the birds are. What is their relation to each other? Why are they facing away from each other? I wonder why people are unable to communicate in the same circumstances.
Commentary on Privacy
We're constantly being watched, and while this is not solely in the real world, almost all of us are active online. With the increase in short-form media and its many algorithms harvesting information from us, finding privacy and space away from surveillance is getting harder and harder. This photograph is my attempt at conveying this feeling.
Serenity Stroll
A lone individual walks over parallel bridges at dusk, lost in the peaceful surroundings and the calming lights of the city.
Houndstooth Angels
My process of creating photos like this one almost never start with the intent to create a specific image, I like to let the environment dictate my creative process, because I feel that a lot of the beauty in photography comes from capturing pre existing beauty in a creative fashion. For this image I attended the SF Fleet week airshow with the intention of getting some shots of the Blue angels from above, but the photos I took that I loved the most ended up being the shots I took from below. I find going into a shoot with no intention beyond creative experimentation is when I do my best work. This shot was an opportunity to experiment with silhouettes, something I did not have a lot of experience with. While I did love some of those shots I got from above the show, a combination of heat blur and fog, a bizarre combination only possible with the bizarre geography of the San Francisco bay, made that more difficult. I find myself feeling much more free and in 'the zone' when I allow myself to Experiment freely
Unknown Doorway
This photo was taken at an abandoned building behind my school. When I found this building, I thought that there was something special about the way the building was preserved. I liked the way the building was worn down, but still standing. The mysterious door intrigued me, I knew that it would be a good focal point for a photo. I liked the bricks that made up the building and the way they weren't all symmetrical. In the process of editing this photo, I used a black and white filter to make the image appear more mysterious and ominous. I then used masking to make the front of the building lighter, while the back remained dark. I also used the remove tool in Adobe Photoshop to remove items in the photo that took away from the main focal point, the doorway. I removed things like random rocks, lights and even a tree. I used masking, once again, to make the doorway lighter than all else. I really wanted to emphasize the door frame in the photo.
A Market Shopper Delights in Seeing "Japanese High-End Brands"
This photo was taken at a vintage market in Berkeley, California. It was for an article I wrote for journalism. I was inspired by the vibrant colors and excitement that radiated off the person seeing something that made them happy.
Cool Colors In Shadow
This photo was a inspired image of a previous one I have done before but I thought it would be different if I took it at a precise time when cool colors would start to appear but also be bright enough to show in the dark.
Forgotten Fun
I took this picture while experimenting with night photography for the first time, and using long exposures. So while the picture is fairly bright, it was taken at around 10 PM. While editing it, I tried to keep the light dim to bring out the darkness of the picture, while still keeping enough light to show all the color present. I took the picture in my home town of an abandon pool. Ive been attempting to find and photograph abandoned places because they fascinate me. I want to document these places, as there constantly changing. Moreover I find it fascinating what these places, that once served a purpose, become after their disregarded by people.
Sunset from Cuttyhunk
Sunset from Cuttyhunk captures the beauty of summer and the bittersweet feeling of it coming to an end. This photo was originally taken in 2022 and I continued to work on it into 2023 to achieve the best color balance.
Blossom of Life
The inspiration to create this artwork rooted from the idea that the most beautiful things are found where you least expect them to be. The hands holding the flower symbolize a colorless and gloomy world, while the flower itself signifies the life and beauty hidden within it.
The Other Side
Liminal space: occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold. This door could lead to anywhere. Will you go through it? (taken at a thrift store basement in Santa Rosa)
Lonely Morning
This Image i took is one of my all time favorites, i took it during a really hard time in my life and it really brings out foggy and dark thoughts in my head at that time. Whenever i walk outside my house in the morning i see this very streetlight and it reminds me of this photo. the little bird on the wire is also a nice touch i didnt even notice until after I took it, it shows little un noticeable things can go a long way for someone, even if they don't notice it at first.
Colors in the Wind
This photo was taken in October the sky was a very beauitful array of colors and the farm windmill was a nice touch to the colors but the colors don't distract the viewer from the background.
Nature Has Meaning
This was taken when I was hiking a trail near College of Marin. I noticed the vast hills of trees and greenery and felt very inspired to try and capture it. I wanted to make it special though, not just take of photo of just the trees so I came back with a friend and had her stare off into the distance and appreciate the view. With her staring off into the distance I feel like it makes the scenery feel so much more important and so much more alive. It gives it a lot more meaning.
Alone
I am passionate about using visual storytelling to shed light on important societal issues. Photography as a medium possesses the power to transcend words and speak directly to the heart. Homelessness is a deeply pervasive and often misunderstood problem that affects countless individuals and families in our society. I believe that it is not only essential to capture the raw, unfiltered realities of unhoused people, including veterans and ordinary citizens, but also to challenge the stereotypes and biases that perpetuate the stigmatization of this marginalized community. This composition aims to create a bridge between the viewer and the subject. I have sought to capture the humanity, strength, and resilience of those experiencing homelessness.
California & Gough
This photo was taken on California and Gough St. in San Francisco, during the twice a year event, California Henge. I took advantage of this rare opportunity and captured this beautiful sunset.
ordinary turned into the extraordinary
This image illustrates how something so little can appear so large from various perspectives, looking at something from a fresh perspective can transform something ordinary into something quite stunning. .
SF Cable Car
I took this picture when I was in San Francisco. My process of this work was long. I first saturated the background colors to black and white and re-colored the cable car and adjusted the colors.
