This photo was taken at an abandoned building behind my school. When I found this building, I thought that there was something special about the way the building was preserved. I liked the way the building was worn down, but still standing. The mysterious door intrigued me, I knew that it would be a good focal point for a photo. I liked the bricks that made up the building and the way they weren't all symmetrical. In the process of editing this photo, I used a black and white filter to make the image appear more mysterious and ominous. I then used masking to make the front of the building lighter, while the back remained dark. I also used the remove tool in Adobe Photoshop to remove items in the photo that took away from the main focal point, the doorway. I removed things like random rocks, lights and even a tree. I used masking, once again, to make the doorway lighter than all else. I really wanted to emphasize the door frame in the photo.

To me, creativity is the most important quality a person can have. I think it's extremely important to stay in touch with your imagination, especially at this time. After overcoming a pandemic and all of the otherworldy problems we deal with, like racism, we must have an escape outlet.
