Telemann: Viola Concerto in G major, movement II

In this video, I am playing the second movement of Telemann’s viola concerto in G major, the first known viola concerto, which consists of four movements. It is a standard of viola repertoire and ordinarily accompanied by a small ensemble comprising two violins, a viola, a cello, a double bass, and a harpsichord; or simply, a piano. The second movement, which I am playing here, is allegro, meaning I play it at a brisk pace. I attempt to build some excitement in this section, as it is preceded by the slow, lyrical first movement. This style of music is big in contrast, as many classical styles are, but especially in dynamic range, or the volume of the piece. Though you do want to go briskly here, it is important to save some speed for the final movement, which is presto.

Creativity means that you come up with something new, perhaps unexpected, but not necessarily. It can be a variation on a popular theme, or a completely new, exciting viewpoint. Creativity can be anything at all, so long as it is not a carbon copy of another work.
