Bach’s Andante from Sonata No. 2 in A minor, BWV 1003

Timothy C.

  • Bach’s Andante from Sonata No. 2 in A minor, BWV 1003 was composed around 1720. It follows a melodic line with harmonies that give a lyrical and meditative feel. Bach is known for his polyphonic music, multiple voices, that require careful phrasing and layering. I found that this piece has many nuances that make it difficult. I tried to convey this piece how Bach would want it played.

  • Musicality and its creativeness means I can experiment with dynamics, phrasing, and ornamentation, while still remaining deeply connected to the essence of the composer’s original vision.
