The 4th movement of Samuel Barber’s Sonata in E-flat Minor, Op. 26 is widely regarded as one of the most compelling and distinctive sections of the work. Featuring more virtuosic and energetic than earlier movements, it offers a moment of deep introspection. The piano textures are so rich but spare enough to allow me bring out the emotional weight of the music. My favorite part of performing this movement is that I can showcase not only the virtuosity but also the sensitivity and ability to navigate subtle, nuanced expressions. For example, I really love how I can use the rhythmic flexibility in the left hand - the slow and somewhat unpredictable pace, to create my personal interpretation of a sense of longing or even tension, adding the stark contrast to juxtapose the emotional states to the more vigorous first three movements, showcasing the emotional power with depth, sensitivity and beautiful simplicity.

To me creativity is the ability to transform ideas, emotions, or concepts into something new and meaningful. Taking what already exists, a set of materials, experiences, or a music written centuries ago, reimagining it in a way unexpected or original. Creativity can be simply how we approach everyday challenges.
