Violin Concerto 2 in D Minor, 1st Movement by Wieniawski

Connor C.

  • Wieniawski was a Polish violinist and composer. His second concerto is considered one of the finest works he ever composed, and is a turbulent piece, with both lyrical melodic lines (as in when the solo violinist enters for the first time) and technically challenging passages with difficult shifts, string crossings, and up-bow spiccatos. This piece was dedicated to Pablo de Sarasate.

  • As a classical violinist, my goal is to perform the work as the composer intended it, to tell the composer's story. It requires a great deal of acting, stepping into the composer's shoes and understanding their message. For me, creativity is the ability to combine their story with my own.
