Materialisitic Collection
For these two poems, I've captured unexpected items in their most dramatic form. I enjoy the idea of reading something very deep and thorough, creating an implicit image in one's mind about the theme of the story, only to find out at the end that the subject matter was primitive and completely unimaginable.
X Mark
When I was taking a walk at night I saw an x-shaped cloud in the sky, and I thought that an x mark was a cool thing to write a story about. I didn't really think about much when I was writing this piece and I just put what I wanted to on the page, and that is how most of my pieces are.
Acceptance
My piece is about the process of coming to terms with your sexuality when your whole life you've had different plans for yourself. I wanted to capture the raw emotions I endured when going through this.
The Whole World Passes By & Unchanging
The Whole World Passes By: This is a reflection of my hope that I could be one of those good people out there who would stop for those the world has tread on, looked over, beat down; but when I feel that way, that someone would also do the same for me.
But He Left No Marks
These poems are not a set; the file name is the first poem's title because I didn't like the idea of mashing all three together. "But he left no marks" and "come home" both express varying levels of regret, distress, and loneliness within unhealthy relationships. "enough to be" depicts the fear of rejection and perceptions of others regarding one's gender identity.
Hollywood Dream / I Believe in Bugs
My first creative work, “Hollywood Dream,” is an ekphrasis poem based on the painting “The Lovers” by René Magritte.
250 Mango Gummies
This piece is about a group of people I became closer with in the beginning of my sophomore year.
Honey and Amber
This piece is about feeling every emotion all at once, in one place. It pulls inspiration from a Jewish Sleepaway camp I attend each year. The piece discusses how one day I won’t be able to visit every year.
As Time Goes By
Our world is what you may call the epitome of limitations, one of dreams that shall never exist. Our world is an abyss where hopes shatter, shards breaking at the foundation of a bottomless chasm. Reality’s oceans are filled with bitter tears.
Out With the Old in With the New
I wrote this piece because I was recently reminded that pondering about the past won’t change the present. Moving is a very difficult process for many different people including me.
This Darkness
This piece was written when I was going through a lot of stuff. When I wrote it, it made me feel very good about rebirth and how life can be carried on within others hearts.
If You Were Here
This piece is very personal because it talks about a subject that I've always wanted to talk about.
