Winter Kiss

Ece E.

  • Over the course of around 25 hours, I drew “Winter Kiss” with soft pastel sticks and pastel pencils on 12x16” Pastel mat paper. I started drawing butterflies with tigers in 2020, because their unlikely friendship represents the beautiful, mysterious, and gentle sides of nature. With every stroke of the pencil, I made sure to use a feather-light touch to achieve the soft expression I envisioned in the tiger. I added a blue light surrounding the butterfly to add an element of magic to the piece.

  • When I’m drawing, I fall into a trance-like state for hours on end, focusing on getting the gleam of the eyes and textures of each fur stroke just right. Through exploring photorealism, I have developed a great appreciation and passion for the beauty of nature even beyond the animals I draw.
