War Torn

Azael S.

  • This piece was primarily dedicated to the harsh reality of war and battle, viewing a feudal Japanese samurai damaged harshly, his sword crumbling and his armor dirtied. I wanted truly to convey a sense of motion in this, allowing the viewer to follow his motions through their own interpretations. I see it as something without context directly, allowing one to fill in the blanks and come to their own conclusions as to the harsh fate of this warrior. I worked entirely digitally, using scratchy, quick motions to represent the sloppiness and agility of the subject.

  • It allows me to translate my interests into visual form, I view it less as a therapeutic hobby but more as my favorite way of showing myself and my interests off to the world. Drawing as well a way for me to incorporate my greatest interests into my life in a manner I find enjoyable.
