Third Day of Creation

  • Covering a biblical theme, I wanted to communicate a more human image of the Abrahamic god. Despite Gods being non-human, I used a recognizable part of human anatomy that indicates consciousness: the human eye. The iris is blue: inspired, free, but sad. Inserted inside a yellow chrysanthemum with a rich, veiny, red interior. This depiction of the biblical god is represented as a being inwardly motivated by love and passion, but shows itself as feeling sorrowful; neglected. The red veins stretch into the sky, showing God inserting its love and passion into the world above while the ocean below resembles its bustling sorrow and feelings of neglect; loneliness. Water, the foundation of life, insinuates that God's emotion is within all living beings; especially the more unfavorable ones. A large wave reaches up to meet God but crashes back down before they can touch. The inherent sorrow and desire for love in living beings is what draws us to religion and makes us feel connected with God while God itself is motivated to create life for the same reasons.

  • I consider art to be one of my first hobbies and an outlet for complicated ideas, emotion, and self expression.
