An Embarrassed Face

This painting came from a photo I secretly took of my friend’s face while she was writing a computer science assignment. Because I thought the facial expression was so vivid and comical, I drew it as a portrait in my art class with colored chalks. Although the photo was taken in a dim environment without obvious color variation, I turned it into a colorful look through my imagination based on the face structure and the light and shadow on it. I used yellow and orange-pink as the primary skin tone, highlighted the cheekbones and forehead with light yellow and flesh color, and mixed brown to emphasize the shadows. The main point of this painting is the use of a combination of colors to depict the texture of the skin and to show the comical and embarrassing expression of the character vividly.
