Seeded Clouds

Nathan W.

  • My piece seeded clouds was made to bring awareness to something that we’ve been doing since the 1940s. Clouds Seeding is a process of dumping dry ice and the compound silver iodide to make clouds rain, overall sounds like a good thing but the compound Silver iodide is toxic to humans. causing several things like irritation in your eyes and skin can go as far as turning your skin blue as that’s one of the signs of silver poisoning. yes that sounds terrible but it said that they don’t use that much silver iodide. They've been doing it since 1946 and was founded by the US government to help with California’s droughts and other areas' dry seasons. Now that we’ve been messing with the natural cycle of rain causes droughts to be longer due to all the water being prematurely dropped from the sky. To explain the process of this happening the dry ice freezes the water and the silver iodide together into a snowflake and then it melts and since it has that metal in there because of the rain to drop prematurely due to the extra weight of silver iodide. So I depict a plane that by my research is typically full of the dry ice and silver iodide flying over cloud with the top most bit having snowflakes with a skull to represent a poisonous substance and then raindrops colored with metallic glaze and a innocent bystander standing looking up at the plane clueless to what’s going on with it’s kin blue.

  • As an art medium ceramics is honestly my favorite. I’ve always wanted to get into an art that really feels good for me and I found that was ceramics. Since clay is so meltable you can make all sorts of forms. skies The limit on what you can make and the fact that there’s so much freedom.
