After seeing the war in Ukraine in the news, I was horrified by the violence, destruction, and deaths. The images of the destruction were on my mind, which inspired me to create my artwork depicting the consequences of war. While this work depicts the physical destruction of a neighborhood, it also represents the broken relations between the two countries and the neglect of humanity during times of war. One technique that I used was burning the materials to give them a charred look, reflecting the circumstances in Ukraine. Also, the burning represents the loss of everything the Ukrainians had since the fires made it difficult to salvage their items.
