Misery's Slumber Party

Arya J.

  • This piece is meant to represent the inner workings of a internal conflict within oneself and an homage to mental health . A visual representation of the guilt and pressure felt to feel appropriately in your environment. things meant to bring us joy and comfort sometimes have the opposite effect and I wanted to capture that surreal esque disparity in this piece. I intended to represent contrast in as many ways possible using the relationship between colors and utilizing pastel and colored pencil in order to further push the narrative of divergence.

  • My approach towards my art is like a language only spoken by me. It has allowed me to able put out raw imagery and message unrestricted by conventional boundaries. Creativity to me is articulation at its finest because of the room for interpretation and that's what makes it special.
