Dairy

Arlie L.

  • Cows are, at their core, docile creatures. They are innocent, and yet humanity's desires loom over them, represented in this piece by a glistening Neapolitan ice cream cone. Its presence is incongruous with its natural surroundings, almost mocking in its over-saturated hues and larger-than-life presence. I took care to portray the cows as innocuous; it is in their nature to be gentle, just as it is humanity's nature to invade their space. I painted this watercolor, titled "Dairy", to be representative of this dichotomy between people and nature.

  • I use art to examine and pinpoint complex thoughts and emotions that I would otherwise struggle to articulate.
