Cloud Gazing

My artwork depicts a child cloud gazing, a peaceful and mindful act that aims to find beauty in nature. However, behind the child’s unawareness, the truth of toxic smoke coming from the factories in the distance is revealed. This disguised enemy plagues the sky as the child is left oblivious to the dangers in the air. The effects of climate change, although not always prominent, are everywhere, preying on the unsuspecting and unknowing. The vast volumes of greenhouse gasses emitted by factories can be one of the primary causes of climate change, harming ecosystems and our planet. Although cloud gazing is a seemingly innocent act, because of the actions of our modern world, it may have a much deeper, darker meaning.
My work addresses the effects of climate change through air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels, and how industrial expansion causes habitat loss to many animals. The shapes in the clouds are endangered species, tigers and elephants, both affected by habitat loss. Through my art, I try to express the importance of speaking out about climate change, an event prominent in our daily lives and the modern world. The fight against climate change is crucial because of the dire consequences for not only our planet but all of us.
