A Beautiful Life

I made this when volunteering for a local art studio. It was an event where young girls would paint what they wanted their future to look like, after I helped set up I was able to make my own painting. I have painted my emotions many times in the past, so to paint my future, I painted how i wanted to feel in the future, but depicting those feelings through art. The people in the bottom left corner are different versions of me throughout my life. Their head and core represent my personality and feelings at those stages. The last one, who's head makes up the rest of the canvass is how I hope to be in the future. The different colors and textures of this section, though abstract in appearance, are very purposeful in the way that they represent different emotions, ideas and feelings. I wanted to put emphasis on a balance of different ideas, not just "I want to be happy" but that I want to feel excited, content, peaceful, nostalgic, etc., as well as some more negative feelings, because no life comes without low points. When painting my emotions I have a process of visualizing what they look like, and I can literally see the colors and shapes of emotions in my mind, so this painting is truly representative of what my future will (hopefully) look like through the eyes of my emotions.

It's vital to my mental health, and is an expression of who I am. It's a way for others to see how my imagination works, as well as a way for me to put my emotions onto paper. It makes me so happy, and proud to see something on paper that I made, and that makes me feel something.
