Lullaby Script

Alexis G.

  • Lullaby was originally written as a short story, but I always knew I wanted to adapt it into a screenplay. I saw the Creative Youth Awards as an opportunity to finally do that, and this script is the final product. The script has its differences from the story, but I believe the final screenplay is the strongest version of Lullaby because it touches on something that people truly do suffer with and shares how that issue can affect family members. Alcohol and substance abuse can be hard on both the person as well as family, and it's an issue that's not always talked about in the media, almost as if it's seen as taboo. I believe that Ellie’s story should be shared because I’m sure many can relate to it, and those who can’t will empathize with people supporting family and friends through substance abuse.

  • Creativity means finding unique solutions to problems and sharing my emotions through art forms. I have experimented in so many different art subjects, from drawing to writing to sewing, and I love being able to express myself in new ways.
