La Llorona

Marguerite M.

  • Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been interested in ghost stories. I was convinced that my grandmother’s house was haunted and would never go to the third floor alone. For this piece, I chose to fuse both sides of my heritage, my grandmother's red in South Bend and my abuela’s childhood in Colombia. This piece also tries to fuse two parts of my identity that have always felt at odds with each other.

  • Creativity is how we as artists express ourselves and how we see the world.
