Ysaye Sonata No. 3 in D Minor ”Ballade”

This piece is a very interesting work by Eugene Ysaye, composed for his friend George Enescu. As most of us now, Bach had written the marvelous 6 Sonatas and Partitas in the Baroque era, and while they are still played today, Ysaye thought that the violin repertoire needed some modernizing. There were so many new techniques that players could do on the violin! And so, Ysaye composed his 6 sonatas, each dedicated to one of his close friends. I wanted to express the spontaneity of this piece in my interpretation, and did so with the phrasing and dynamic contrast.

Creativity is how a person can express their thoughts and ideas in an art form. Everyone’s ideas are different, which is what makes art so different at times. You can pour so much emotion and so many different things you want to convey, all in a simple song or painting.
