Contrails

This poem was created to depict feelings of grief through the story of a plane. After a plane crash, the narrator searches for the plane in the sky but only finds contrails that it left behind. Contrails are the trails of condensation a plane leaves behind when it is flying. Contrails are meant to represent how when something is lost, their tangible form may be inaccessible but their memory still lingers after they depart. I was inspired to write this piece when I was reading outside and a plane flew above my house. As I was watching it, I thought about how the contrails that it left behind were like ghosts in the sky, and as the plane left my view I could still see them. From there, I began to cultivate how I could express that thought into a piece of writing, and ultimately I created this poem.

Creativity to me is having no boundaries. You can never be too creative. Most of the time, the most creative are remembered as the ones who were bold enough to try to change the world. When I am writing, I feel comfortable knowing that I have absolute freedom.
