Is it possible to love someone you never truly knew? Within the few times a year I see my father, that is the phrase which infiltrates my mind. “A Web of Half-Truths” is an artistic depiction of the fond, yet untraceable memories children carry as they grow up with parental absence. During my childhood, I caught brief glimpses of my Indian father after his nightly shifts at the anesthesia clinic, separated by miles and timezones. As I retrace my steps, I now question if the incomplete memories kept of him are yet another childhood ideal I keep clinging onto. Perhaps what’s left of his image should be remembered fondly, even if they were just half-truths.

Through simple shapes and lines, art allows us to not only cherish what we maintain in the present, but preserve what we had in the past. It is an essential reminder of the strict impermanence of our surroundings. To pursue art is to thoroughly explore oneself, flawed aspects and all.
