Between streetlights and buildings

Jenny L.

charcoal, pastel

  • I used my mom’s photo that I took in Korea as a reference for this artwork. I used a colorful background using pastel to portray the business and movement of the street in the background. However, I didn’t apply much color to my mom to make her stand out more from the background. I wanted to depict the focus point on the figure by making the background blurry. I thought that this could convey a moment of my mom standing out from a streetlights and buildings in the background.

  • Creativity means a daydream to me. I think people’s daydream reflects on their creative imagination. Most of my creative ideas come from my daydreams. I think creativity needs to include imagination, but also deep thinking. Daydreaming also comes from one’s imagination and continuous deep thinking to continue one’s imagination.
