The shadows behind me
I took this photo for my mood assignment in photography class. Something I really like about my photograph is how the window was allowing in light to the dark hall. The light entering my photo represents hope coming into our lives.
Golden Hour
An engineering marvel takes off from Santa Rosa’s airport on a beautiful evening.
Hidden Lamppost
I was walking along a path taking photos in Leavenworth, Washington, and a bright green reflection caught my eye. I ran back to the puddle seen in the photo and leaned down to capture the tree and the lamppost perfectly in line. The puddle provided a crystal clear reflection.
Through the Stairwell
I took this photo in a stairwell of a historic building at Brown University. I went there to visit the school but didn't expect to fall in love with the architecture as well. I tried many different angles (I even laid on the staircase) working without a tripod in this darkly lit room until I got the perfect shot through the staircase of "choir" and "loft". This is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken to this day and it’s definitely inspired me to shoot more architecturally and grow into the photographer I’ve always dreamed of being with an eye to bring out the beauty in good architecture.
The Flame
These photos took inspiration from art work with light painting and me trying to create something with light painting, but using a different type of light. The method I used to create this light was through items I had on me such as a lighter and then through the night I tried to paint with light on different objects using trial and error until I liked the finished piece.
Pensive Waterbuck
This photo was taken on a Jeep tour at Safari West, a nearby wildlife and safari conservation park. The waterbuck immediately captured my attention, and I loved how it was posed, looking out the doorway down to the valley below. I waited until the light was perfect, composed the photo, and captured the image you see in front of you. The photo was not edited, as I felt it was meaningful to keep it natural and an accurate representation of the wildlife to have a better impact.
Reminiscing About the Gold...
I saw the moment while I was walking around the golden gate, and found the perfect shot. There is was. The most beautiful bridge I'd ever seen. Then I seized the moment.
Bird on the Water
This is a very special piece to me because of the meaning it has. It was taken on the last day of summer, when I had gone to the beach with my friends to celebrate the summer. I wen't with no intention of doing photography, but during sunset, I decided to take out my camera, and I took this picture. It was a very spur of the moment thing, and it will forever remind me of the end of summer 2023.
Down the River
After a few minutes of walking through windy streets of Chicago for the first time, I reach the sight of the Chicago River and catch a glimpse of the sunset. It is very crowded so I was in a hurry, but I quickly took out my phone and captured a picture of the sunset reflecting off the buildings along the river. The time was 8:13PM and although I spent another 7 days there, I was unable to capture that same scenery. My timing was perfect and the adrenaline rush of the busy allowed me to snap a flick at the perfect without overthinking the lighting exposure and all the other camera features.
Sun Set Over the Bay
Angle Island for friends Birthday! We walked all the way up to the peak of the island and happened to meet this beautiful sunset, at the top.
Cliffs
I love film photography for the reason that, at a distance, it reduces everyone to small specks of grain. Set that grain against an expansive background and it's like they never mattered. I started taking pictures because I thought I needed to be more interested in people. Ironically, photography detaches you from that. It makes you an observer of all the beautiful disgusting things that humans do. And it makes the world bigger than it was before.
Ishaan C Photography
Ever since I was younger, I have always had a passion for creating content, especially through photography and videography. This passion was explored as I traveled to numerous places across the world. After receiving my first digital camera in 2022, I began my professional journey in Norway, which was my first trip with this new camera. After that, I continued my journey, not only taking photos on numerous trips, but also for events in my daily life, ranging from personal to professional endeavors. Today, photography has become a way for me to express stories and emotions through my work. I plan on chasing photography and videography as a professional career in the future, shooting for events, music videos, and more.
Bikers Destiny
During my time at First Exposers, I’ve expanded my interest in photography. I’ve made some great memories there and took many photos to capture my moments. During our time we were given the assignment to capture motion blur using our cameras. We started to look at oncoming bikers and cars and snap; I took my masterpiece.
The Grand Lake
The anticipation of seeing a movie you have been waiting months for, combined with the smell of fresh popcorn is just one reason I love the movie theater. Growing up in the Bay Area I always went to the movies with my father, Grandparents and friends at the grand lake theater. The colorful lights, the history and the atmosphere made me fall in love with this place. I wanted to capture the excitement of the neon lights with the amazing architecture. I achieved these details at night through having a long shutter speed and a high aperture. Through this I also got the passing cars creating a nice addition of lights and lighting on the streets.
Trapped
The idea of being trapped is an idea that is familiar to many. Oftentimes when we think about this idea of being trapped we think of it in a literal sense. You may think of criminals as being trapped or dogs in a shelter, so how could a non-criminal lawful human being be trapped? The idea of being trapped isn’t nearly as powerful as the emotion of being trapped because a legal and lawful individual may feel more trapped than a criminal in solitary. The emotion and the literal idea of being trapped are two completely different things. To convey the feeling of being trapped it requires deep reflection about why people feel trapped. People can feel trapped because of a multitude of reasons. Maybe they don’t like their job, their marriage, their current emotional state, or how their life is unfolding. To convey this feeling I chose to use a black and white filter in order to limit the image. By limiting the image I hope to convey this feeling of being trapped because I’m not allowing it to have color. Instead, I can be more in control of the image because I won't have colors adding extra meaning that I can’t necessarily control. The black-and-white filter also allows me to play with lighting in a way that I haven’t been able to before since it leaves a more dramatic contrast between the whites and blacks in the colors. The dramatic contrast adds a more timeless and dramatic feeling.
