With suicide rates in the United States increasing rapidly by each year, I felt that it was necessary to raise awareness for the thousands of people suffering. "Two Hundred and Twenty Feet" explores more of the analytical side of suicide, focusing on the two thousand people who have jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge to further relate to the community in my area. Using specific statistics that all coincidentally revolve around the number two, "Two Hundred and Twenty Feet" further highlights the drastic numbers of suicide contrasting with how only one person is needed to save a life. In "Ship in a Bottle," figurative language as well as choppy ideas forms a wineglass shape, symbolizing the detriments of alcohol abuse and its direct relation with suicide. The overall analogy of a ship in a bottle, which is a common toy, being a distraction from the real world crosses over with the symbol of the bottle being alcohol, which eventually cracks into reality as the ship sinks. "Maybe If I Was There" portrays the emotional effects of suicide, relating closely to my own experiences. The guilt of not being able to save someone from self-harming or committing suicide is devastating, especially displayed by the constant "what ifs" or "maybe ifs" as a form of blaming oneself.

Creativity is the expression of emotions or thoughts, an artistic way to exhibit all the bottled-up feelings or passion. To me, it is the effort put into projects as well as the overall message behind the physical artwork.
