for m, I lost you.

Sophia L.

  • My first poem, "for m", was written about a friend of mine, who isn't one I would like to lose. Originally it was more light-hearted, but this version reflects the truth that I feel I must tell about her struggle. My second poem is called "lost", which is about my own feelings about the vastness of the world and being left behind. The third poem, "you", is from the perspective of a girl who loses someone she loved, and reflects upon her own dreams. While making these three poems, I was guided by the theme of loss, and I wanted to evoke emotion and reflect my thoughts in my artwork. As a whole, "for m, I lost you" is a collection of poems tied together by by the word "I", thus the capitalization of the word as opposed to the lowercase I use in my poems.

  • Creativity for me means being able to do anything I want. There's endless possibilities, and I rarely write to be good at writing. It happens as a side effect, if it ever does. I also appreciate just thinking about ideas, even if I never write them down. It's my imagination.
