Flowers Never Bend

Cait Y.

  • I created "Flowers Never Bend" over the summer using music by Simon and Garfunkel, my favorite songwriters. I wanted to create a loose narrative, around the idea of being stuck alone, and stuck in a constant cycle of overthinking. I wanted to match the haunting, hypnotic tone of the music. This is the first piece of film I've created. I am a current student at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in the Theater Department, but I've always been drawn to filmmaking because of my combined love for movies and music. I also wanted to do a project to spend time with my best friend, Frankie, and my Uncle Pete, who is a location scout.

  • Creativity to me is all about collaboration. Growing up in an artistic family, I've been immersed in all kinds of art forms. I love being surrounded by other artists and being constantly inspired and challenged by new ideas.
