España Cañí

Dayton N.

  • España Cañi is a musical work and the work written in 1923 by Pascual Marquina Narro and the piece was first performed in 1926. Also, the piece was created in Spain on a train, containing many intense rhythms, and very famous throughout the world. España Cañi in English means “Gypsy Spain” and the work is played when in the theater or during bullfights. I performed this piece for my Spanish class, as we were learning about Spanish history, culture, and art. As I was learning this piece, I found it to be very fun and entertaining for me, having a really fun rhythm, along with a catchy melody. I believe it’s important to spread not only our own cultural music or even classical music, but also other cultures.

  • For me, creativity is about expressing ones self, whether that be through music, art, or even science. It also means using your own knowledge and skills, rather than other people's work.
