• Artist Statement

  This artwork is a self portrait that tells a message of sadness but hope. It depicts a girl with butterfly wings on her head and many around her as well. Her heart is outside her chest strangled by strings. She is crying with a semi blank expression, while the background contains bloodied roses. When creating this artwork I discovered many things. As I researched into many different insects and flowers to inspire some symbolism, I came across a movement that heavily inspired this artwork. Overall, this artwork tells a story of pain and sadness, but with a message to uplift and save others.

• Creative Statement

  To me, creativity means the ability to come up with different solutions, outcomes and ideas. Creativity can help to properly express and discover yourself and the possibilities. I use creativity in my art and it helps me to create unique, meaningful pieces.
