Zombie in the Rain

Roxanne G.

  • What grows in a dead person's head when it rains? Something a little live olive leaves, and moss, and some saprophytic fungi. I made her and her garden a metaphor for mental illness, which she wears as her crown even as she's being decayed, "eaten," which I think is nicely ironic for a zombie. She started out as a sketch in the middle of math class, but I took her home and brought color to her.

  • Exploring and being creative are ways for me to get in touch with myself. I can learn about what I like, how I react to things, and it really helps me to organize my thoughts by figuring out where I want to take my art. I love to discover things.
