In my high school art class, I was assigned to paint an original piece with the theme inspired by Andy Warhol. Never receiving the opportunity to paint a portrait of someone before, I was very self-conscious and reluctant about completing the assignment successfully. However, I was determined to try my best no matter the outcome. I chose to paint one of my favorite actresses who has inspired me with her unique acting abilities. I took my time and persisted with the assignment. When my portrait was completed, I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride that I was actually able to utilize skills that I never knew I had.

Exploring and expressing my creativity has allowed me to build up my self-confidence, to step out of my comfort zones, and to utilize my imaginative skills to help connect to myself. Exploring and expressing my creativity has helped me gain a better understanding of who I am as an individual.
