Day of the Dead Ofrenda

My artwork is based on altars that are put up during the day of the dead. There isn’t any space inside my apartment to build an actual altar, so I decided to make a mini one to honor my grandma. Altars normally include the favorite foods or things of the loved one who has passed. So when I was making it I was thinking of what food she loved and what material I could use to make it. All of the food is made with clay, the altar itself is made out of a box, the flowers and skull are made of tissue paper, and I used lights to represent the candles.

Exploring and expressing my creativity impacts my life because it helps me be able to discover who I am. There are no limits for me when I do art, I just create whatever comes to mind whether it be a sculpture or drawing and overtime I’ve created my own specific art-style.
